I have been asked once again to lead the 'Celtic Connections Festival Orchestra' which will perform on 20th January 2008 at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The orchestra will perform a selection of works - Greg Lawson's arrangements of tracks from Martin Bennett's Grit album, settings of Burns songs by Kevin McCrae, settings of selected O'Caloran works by Derek Bell, excerpts from Mark Sheridan's Curve of the Earth and Brian MaNeill's Osprey song cycle and my own piece the New Dawning. Special guests will include Eddi Reader and Sharon Shannon.
The new Coila album 'The Complete Ceilidh' has been released on the brand new Rostral Records label. A year in the production, the album contains 15 tracks of music together with a dance instruction booklet, and a second CD which includes 'dance calling'. For more information go to www.coila.com
The senior group of the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra 'Innovation' has released it's debut CD titled 'Inferno' . Following on from a highly successful summer tour of Scotland the group has given high profile performances at the RSAMD feis, Glasgow, the Fiddle Festival in Edinburgh and Speyfest in Fochabers
During term time I am employed as Scots Fiddle Instructor on the BA Scottish Music degree at the RSAMD as well as the BA Applied Music course at the University of Strathclyde. I am also an examiner for the new RSAMD's graded Traditional Music exams which were launched in October 2007.
